If you’ve ever needed to play multiple videos at once GridPlayer is an ideal tool. For example, you might want to review footage from several camera angles of the same event. GridPlayer will let you do that, and it is free and simple to use.
GridPlayer displays videos in a side-by-side layout and supports simultaneous playback. The number of videos you can load depends on your computer’s graphics capabilities and screen size. I’ve successfully played up to eight videos at once.
Because it’s built on the VLC media player framework, GridPlayer supports a wide range of video formats, including MP4, AVI, MOV, DAV and more.
GridPlayer can be a significant time-saver when reviewing large volumes of footage. To analyze video from several cameras recording the same scene, import those files and save them as a playlist. When opened, the playlist will synchronize playback so all videos begin at the same time. (Note: Ensure your files are time-aligned.) The image below shows what this looks like:

To add videos, drag and drop them into the GridPlayer window. Alternatively, right-click anywhere inside the window and choose “Add Files” to manually select your media.

A key limitation of GridPlayer is the lack of individual playback controls. You cannot fast-forward or rewind specific videos independently, and pausing a video resets it to the beginning.
Additionally, GridPlayer does not allow you to export playlists as a single video file. If you need to present synchronized playback—such as in a courtroom setting—you must either use GridPlayer itself or rely on third-party screen recording tools to capture and save the playback as an MP4.
